The new Peacock Original features previously untold stories and never-before-seen interviews covering Cody Rhodes’ rise to WWE stardom.

American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes is coming to Peacock this summer.

Peacock announced a new Original documentary covering the rise, departure, and return of one of WWE’s greatest active Superstars

Who Is Cody Rhodes?

If you’ve been paying any amount of attention to WWE recently, you know his name. His entrances have become one of the most anticipated moments in any given episode of RAW. The arena darkens, and you hear the spoken opening of his entrance music. “Wrestling has more than one royal family.” The guitars kick in and there he is. Either in his American flag-themed gear or in a slick suit and jacket. He makes his way toward the ring, only stopping to raise his arms as the crowd sings “Whoa-oh!” and a blast of pyrotechnics fills the air behind him. He makes his way to the center of the ring, grabs the mic, and asks the cheering crowd “What do you want to talk about?” His charisma and charm is so effective, he commands the entire ring all by himself.

Who Is Cody Rhodes Dad?

It wasn’t always like this. Cody Rhodes, the son of the legendary American Dream, Dusty Rhodes, had a lot to live up to when he started in WWE. He was not the same Superstar we know him to be today. He ultimately ended up leaving the company in order to make a name for himself elsewhere. He returned to WWE at the top of his game to an overwhelming crowd response at WrestleMania 38. His story was nowhere near finished. Chasing his dream of winning the WWE Championship, he competed in a Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam only to tear his pectoral. He fought through the injury, delivering one of the greatest matches in WWE history, but was forced to take an extended break from the action. In January of 2023, he returned at Royal Rumble to take the whole thing and earn himself a match at WrestleMania.

What's In This New Documentary?

That’s the story you know. But there’s so much more. American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes features never-before-seen footage, untold stories and unprecedented access to Cody Rhodes’ early days in WWE, departure from the company, and his triumphant return. This Peacock Original gives you an exclusive glimpse into the transformation of Cody Rhodes into the American Nightmare as he blazes a new trail in sports entertainment.
