Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

The Packers and the Eagles are hoping to have a more successful year than the 2023-2024 NFL season. Both teams just made it to the playoffs, securing NFC Wild Card spots but losing in the early rounds. Nothing ever says the same with football, so we’ll see what’s in store for these two teams in the upcoming season.

Over the 2023 regular season, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 3,858 passing yards and completed 23 touchdowns across 17 games. He suffered a middle finger fracture in Game 18 and sat out the second half. It’s hard to say if this had a huge impact on their outcome in postseasonconsidering he played the Wild Card game. Hurts was not the only injury on the team, though. Wide receiver A.J. Brown, who led the team with 1,456 receiving yards, also suffered a knee injury towards the end of the season and missed the final game. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers crushed the Eagles 32–9 in the first round of the playoffs, eliminating them from Super Bowl contention in what was considered a huge upset. Now, Coach Nick Sirianni is hoping to make the moves to get his team back in the winning position.

For the ‘24 season, the Eagles have signed defensive end Bryce Huff, defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and linebacker Devin White. They’ve also obtained running back star and two-time Pro Bowler Saquon Barkley, who should be able to put up major yardage and points for the team. The Eagles have drafted rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) and rookie defensive back Cooper DeJean (Iowa). These changes to the roster could be the perfect chance for the Eagles to work their way back to victory.

The Packers had a little more success in the postseason, dominating the NFC East-winning Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card game 48–32. However, they hit a snag the next week, losing to the San Francisco 49ers by only three points. For the Packers, who missed the 2022 playoffs by losing the final regular-season game to the Detroit Lions, it shows definite growth. They head into the ‘24 season as the youngest team in the league, with plenty of potential.

The Packers introduced quarterback Jordan Love as the starter last season, and he quickly earned his spot as QB1. Over the season, Love threw for 4,159 passing yards and completed 32 touchdowns, the second-most in the league. Love’s top assets on offense included running back Aaron Jones, who racked up 656 rushing yards, and wide receiver Jayden Reed, who led the team with 793 receiving yards. For the upcoming season, the team has signed running back Nate McCrary and have drafted offensive tackle Jordan Morgan (Arizona), linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (Texas A&M), and safety Javon Bullard (Georgia). Arguably most important, the Packers also extended Jordan Love’s contract to a four-year, $220 million deal that makes him one of the highest paid NFL players. Fans at Lambeau Field will eagerly await their return from Brazil to see how this year treats them.

No matter what happens, this is sure to be a must-watch game. The last time these two played each other was back in 2022, when the Eagles won by only one touchdown. The teams are ready, are you?

Where will Packers vs. Eagles be played?

The two teams will face off at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. Arena Corinthians is typically used for soccer matches and will be transformed to fit the dimensions of an NFL field. The stadium held FIFA World Cup matches when the event was hosted in Brazil back in 2014. Typically, green is banned from being worn inside due to an ongoing rivalry between Corinthians and Palmeiras, another nearby soccer team, but an exception will be made for this special event.
