Peacock is flipping the script on self-care with the “Crime & Unwind,” a first-of-its-kind pop-up spa experience tailored to crime junkies. The motive? The fascinating  yet paradoxical — phenomenon that 56% of viewers confess to finding true crime content relaxing*. 

The evidence? The investigation into this compelling case found fans of the genre find solace in true crime content for a variety of reasons. A majority (57%) claim their stress relief comes from following complex investigations and half (50%) reach tranquility thanks to case resolution. The investigation also uncovered 68% of viewers are guilty of using true crime as part of their nighttime routine, watching before or while in bed, which is likely why almost a quarter (21%) reported using the steady voices of crime story narrators to lull them to sleep. 

With evidence this damning, the case for a true crime spa experience isn’t just compelling, it's beyond a reasonable doubt. The verdict? Methodology: We asked 1,010 U.S. adults (ages 18+) to participate in an online survey between Nov 6–8, 2024, receiving responses from 747 true crime watchers who watch at least 2x per week. This survey was conducted by a third-party research organization, KRC Research, commissioned by Peacock.
