The Week 12 Sunday Night Football matchup brings you a star-studded battle between the Baltimore Ravens and Los Angeles Chargers. Find out where, when, and how to stream the game LIVE.
Sunday Night Football is home to some of the most thrilling matchups of the NFL season. Every week, two of the league’s toughest teams face off in primetime on Sunday’s biggest stage. This week brings the action to Los Angeles, CA where the Baltimore Ravens will take on the hometown Chargers.
Baltimore Ravens vs. Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football
The Ravens (8-3), the No. 1 seed in the AFC, travel to the west coast to take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football. Baltimore is coming off a huge victory 34-20 over their division rival, the Cincinnati Bengals. Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury in the game and will miss the rest of the 2023 season. Especially with the Burrow injury, the Ravens are stacking up to be one of the top threats to knock off the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. In that Thursday night showdown last week, Ravens star QB Lamar Jackson, who is a frontrunner for the MVP, threw two touchdown passes in the second quarter to help the Ravens sweep the Bengals head-to-head on the season. It didn’t come without some adversity as tight end Mark Andrews hurt his ankle and is likely to miss the rest of the 2023 season. Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday there’s an “outside chance” he could return this year. He led the team in receiving touchdowns this year (6). Baltimore was a force on the ground with RB Gus Edwards rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Edwards has ten rushing touchdowns this season. Jackson leads all quarterbacks in rushing yards this season (535) and has scored five rushing touchdowns. Star wideout Odell Beckham Jr finished with 116 receiving yards (on just four receptions), his first 100+ yard receiving game since 2021. He later left the game with a shoulder injury. Beckham missed the entire 2022 season with an ACL injury. Baltimore is looking to win the AFC North for the first time since 2019, when they repeated as division champs in 2018-19. In the 2018 Wild Card Playoffs, the Chargers ended the Ravens season with a 23-17 home loss.
On the other side, the Los Angeles Chargers (4-6) look to get back on track after a tough 23-20 road loss to Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers last weekend. Love found Romeo Doubs for a 24-yard touchdown with 2:33 left to seal the victory for the Packers. Five of the Chargers' six defeats have a combined margin of 14 points. The Chargers also lost star edge rusher Joey Bosa, who was carted off the field with a foot injury. He will most likely end up on Injured Reserve and miss at least four games. QB Justin Herbert has had a strong season as the signal caller for the Chargers, ranking third in passing touchdowns (19) and top 10 in passing yards (2,609). He’s also been superb at limiting his mistakes, throwing just five interceptions this season. Herbert is behind just Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson for the highest touchdown to interception ratio in the NFL (Herbert: 3.6, Wilson: 4.75). It helps to have a star wideout like Keenan Allen, who leads the league in receptions (83), is third in the NFL in receiving yards (1,011) and tied for third with seven touchdowns. The Chargers have really struggled on defense though, ranking last in the NFL in total defense (393.6 yards/game) and pass defense (291.6 yards/game). They currently sit in last place in the AFC West and as the 13th seed overall in the AFC.
The Ravens and Chargers last faced off back in October 2021, when the Ravens crushed Los Angeles in a 34-6 victory. Baltimore dominated on the ground, rushing for 187 yards versus a Chargers defense that entered the game ranked as the worst rushing defense in the NFL.
