How to Watch the Big Ten and Big East College Basketball Tournaments: First Round LIVE on Peacock, Tipoff Times, and More

March is finally here! Before the big tournament begins, teams must first compete for their conference championship. Winning the conference tournament will grant a team an automatic spot in the national tournament, so there’s a lot at stake in each game. 

Which Rounds of the Big East and Big Ten Tournaments will be on Peacock?

For the Big East Men’s Tournament, Peacock will showcase the entire first round taking place Mar 12 as well as two games from the Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13th. For the Big Ten Men’s Tournament, Peacock will host the first round of games on March 12th. 

Which Big East and Big Ten Tournament Games will be on Peacock?

Big East Tournament 

No. 9 Butler vs. No. 8 Providence 

In the first game of the Men’s Big East Tournament, the Butler Bulldogs take on the Providence Friars at Madison Square Garden at 4p ET. Butler and Providence enter this game on the back of losing streaks, as both teams struggled at end the regular season. The Bulldogs and the Friars split their regular season meetings, so this game could go either way. 

No. 10 DePaul vs. No. 7 Georgetown 

The Georgetown Hoyas take on the DePaul Blue Demons in the next game of the Men’s Big East Tournament at 6p EST on Peacock. The Blue Demons swept the Hoyas in their two meetings in the regular season, with their most recent win occurring only four days ago. Georgetown’s Micah Peavy will be one to watch in this game after he scored 29 points against DePaul last time out. 

No. 11 Seton Hall vs. No. 6 Villanova 

A game between the Seton Hall Pirates and the Villanova Wildcats closes out first round action for the Men’s Big East Tournament today at 9p ET. Sweeping the season series between these two teams, the Wildcats will be led by the nation’s leading scorer Eric Dixon against a Seton Hall team that had only two wins in the Big East conference this season. 

No. 9 Butler/No. 8 Providence vs. No. 1 St. Johns 

To start the quarter finals of the Men’s Big East Tournament, St. Johns, the conference’s number one seed, will take on the winner of Butler vs. Providence at 12 pm EST on March 13th. Taking away the regular season crown from UConn is no easy feat, but the Red Storm and head coach Rick Pitino did just that. They will be looking to claim the Big East conference championship for the first time since 2000. 

No. 5 Xavier vs. No. 4 Marquette 

The next Men’s Big East Tournament game in the quarterfinal round features the Marquette Golden Eagles against the Xavier Musketeers at 2:30p ET. The teams split their regular season series with one win apiece, but Xavier enters this one on a seven game win streak led by forward Zach Freemantle.

Big Ten Tournament 

No. 13 Northwestern vs. No. 12 Minnesota 

The first round of the Men’s Big Ten Tournament begins with the Northwestern Wildcats against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at 3:30p ET. The Wildcats’ Nick Martinelli has been on fire this season and he will go toe-to-toe with the Golden Gophers’ star player Dawson Garcia. This should be a even game, with the winner slated to play No. 5 Wisconsin in the next round. 

No. 15 Iowa vs. No. 10 Ohio State 

The next game in the first round of the Men’s Big Ten Tournament is a clash between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Ohio State Buckeyes today at 6p ET. The Buckeyes won the only meeting between these two teams in the regular season and if they hope to improve their chances of getting into the national tournament, this is a must-win game for them. 

No. 14 USC vs. No. 11 Rutgers 

In the final game of the first round, the USC Trojans take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights at 9p ET. Despite being led by two potential top-five NBA draft picks in Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey, the Scarlet Knights have had a disappointing season with a 15-16 record. Rutgers will need to go on a magical run in the Big Ten Tournament to claim a national tournament spot and that starts with a win tonight against a USC team they beat by 10 points earlier this season.
