Season 23 of The Voice is one to remember. There was the entrance of a new coach and the heartfelt exit of an O.G. And yes, the reality singing competition declared a new winner. Read on for all The Voice recap Season 23 news you can handle.

The Blind Auditions

The Voice, Season 23, had six Blind audition episodes filled with exhilarating chair turns and the coaches enthusiastically battling over talented contestants to fill their rosters. No season would be complete without Blake’s famous finger points at himself as the exiting judge vied for singers.

Who Was On Team Blake?

Blake Shelton chose a mix of country crooners like himself, along with soulful sounds and guitar-playing singers like Neil Salsich, Tasha Jessen, who got a four-chair turn, Alex Whalen, Carlos Rising, Walker Wilson, EJ Michels, Mary Kate Connor, Kylee Dayne, Karson Lester, and Grace West.

Who Was on Team Kelly?

Kelly Clarkson chair turned for impressive rifts, huge high notes, and the Voice’s first hearing-impaired contestant, ALI, along with D.Smooth, Holly Brand, Sheer Element (Jej Vinson, Izzy Kaye, and Tabon Ward), Allie Keck, Marcos Covos, JB Somers, Rachel Christine, Cait Martin, and Katie Beth Forakis.

Who Was on Team Chance?

Selecting a blend of incredible harmonies full of passion, and delivering creative footwork with his blocks, Chance the Rapper snagged Sorelle, NOIVAS, Magnus, Jamar Langley, Manasseh Samone, Chloe Abbott, Mariah Kalia, Ray Uriel, Alyssa Lazar, and NariYella.

Who Was on Team Niall?

In his first run as a coach, One Direction alum Niall Horan brought Ryley Tate Wilson, the season’s youngest contestant at 15 (with an impressive four-chair turn), to his team, along with Michael B., Ross Clayton, Kala Banham, Jerome Godwin III, Laura Littleton, Kate Cosentino, Tiana Goss, Gina Miles, and Talia Smith.

The Battles

Things got spicy as the coaches whittled down their contestants for the upcoming Knockout round. Season 23 introduced the Playoff Pass, where artists could skip the Knockouts and go straight to the Playoffs, getting them one step closer to the live performances and the top slot of the season.

Team Blake Battles

Things didn’t get any easier for Blake Shelton, who completed his last round of Battles. He chose Tasha Jensen, Walker Wilson, Grace West, Neil Salsich, and Kylee Dayne. Her Battle partner, Mary Kate Connor, received Blake Shelton’s Playoff Pass. Shelton also saved NOIVAS from Team Chance.

Team Kelly Battles

With battles that “brought her to church” and a Steal of Kala Banham from Team Niall, Kelly Clarkson chose Cait Martin, Marcos Covos, Holly Brand, Rachel Christine, and ALI in the Battle round. Chance tried to steal D. Smooth, who sang with ALI, but Clarkson blocked him using her Playoff Pass.

Team Chance Battles

Chance chose three-part harmony group Sorelle in the Battle, then named their Battle partner Manasseh Samone as his Playoff Pass. Jamar Langley, Magnus, NariYella, and Ray Uriel won their Battles. Tiana Goss, a Steal from Team Niall, joined the team.

Team Niall Battles

The rookie coach took on his first round of tough cuts, declaring Gina Miles, Ross Clayton, Kate Cosentino, Michael B., and Jerome Godwin III as his Battle winners. He played like a champ, stealing EJ Michels from Team Blake and declaring Ryley Tate Wilson his Playoff Pass.

The Knockouts

With some coaching from Mega Mentor Reba McEntire, another round of gifted hopefuls moved on to the Playoffs and the live performance shows.

Team Blake's winners included his Steal NOIVAS, Kylee Dayne, and Grace West. Shelton used the last Steal of his The Voice tenure for Team Kelly’s Rachel Christine.

ALI, Cait Martin, and Holly Brand sailed through on Team Kelly, with Kelly Clarkson adding Neil Salsich, her Steal from Team Blake.

Team Chance’s winners were Ray Uriel, Jamar Langley, and Sorelle. The rapper finished his quartet of contestants with Kala Banham, a Steal from Team Kelly.

Tasha Jessen, a Steal from Team Blake, joined Team Niall’s Knockout winners, comprised of Gina Miles, Michael B., and Ross Clayton.

Why is Blake Shelton Leaving the Voice?

Season 23 was an emotional one, knowing that this was the ‘Nobody But You’ singer’s final round as a judge. Shelton was one of the original coaches who launched with the series in 2011 and is its most winningest, with nine of his contenders claiming their season’s victory. Shelton left the show to spend more time with his wife, The Voice coach alum Gwen Stefani, whom he married in July 2021, and his three stepchildren.

After numerous four chair-turns, glorious Battles and Knockouts, and electrifying live performances, The Voice finally crowned the Season 23 winner in its finale show. And it was none other than Gina Miles! With a stunning performance of ‘Nothing Compares 2 U,’ the 20-year-old originally from Paxton, Illinois, took home the crown, giving Team Niall a win in his debut coaching season. Now that’s an accomplishment worth mentioning!
