Week 5 Love Island USA Season 6 Recap: Episodes 27-32
That was one wild week in the Villa.
This season of Love Island USA has given us some of the best reality TV of all time, and people have been catching on. The momentum kept going this past week with explosive drama, break-ups, shocking eliminations, and a couple becoming officially BF and GF. They DTRed! Things are happening, people.
Here’s what you need to know to catch up.
[Warning: spoilers ahead!]
Movie Night: the sequel
In the tradition of many a great film, last week’s Movie Night left us on a cliffhanger. Luckily, the sequel did not disappoint, with three more clips that sparked drama in the Villa.
The first showed the true extent of Kordell and Daia’s fling in Casa and revealed to Kordell just how much the news of it hurt Serena.
The second revealed Miguel’s relationship with Siera in Casa, upsetting Leah.
And the third revealed videos of Aaron kissing Daniella in Casa, and even though it was part of a challenge, Aaron told her it felt real. Though Kaylor had already forgiven him, seeing it was a different thing. And an explosive fight led to Aaron storming out of the challenge.
After Movie Night concluded, Serena and Kordell and Kaylor and Aaron both had a lot to discuss. But after some deep convos, both couples decided to forgive one another and stay together.
Recoupling ceremony – it’s the boys’ choice
At the recoupling ceremony, it was the guys’ turn to pick which girl they’d couple up with. But with three more girls than guys, that math daunted the girls. One by one, the guys picked until just three girls were left to be eliminated.
After the ceremony, the couples were:
Aaron and Kaylor
Kenny and JaNa
Kendall and Nicole
Kordell and Serena
Miguel and Leah
Rob and Daniella
Caine and Sierra
Leaving Daia, Catherine (both bombshells from Casa), and Liv (the first bombshell of the season) packing their bags.
A new bombshell with a familiar face
Just when everyone coupled up, a new Bombshells threw the Villa into chaos. Harrison, who was a constant on the last season of Love Island USA, quickly made work getting to know all the girls. After some banter, Harrison got a text letting him know that he’d get to go on three dates in one day with a different girl outside the villa, and he chose Sierra, Daniella, and Nicole. Though all the girls felt comfortable in their current couples, Nicole felt a spark with Harrison.
A steal and a surprise elimination
After his three dates, Harrison got the opportunity to steal one girl to couple up with. And, shocking the entire nation of Fiji, Harrison chose Sierra, leaving Caine single.
Unfortunately for Caine, that means he was eliminated from Love Island USA.
The Olympics come to the Villa
Though we’re still a bit over a week out until the Paris Summer Olympics (streaming on Peacock, by the way, no big deal...), we got a quick taste of track and field as the Islanders participated in a Summer Sports Day relay race in teams with their couple. At the end of the challenge, winners JaNa and Kenny got to spend the night in the hideaway.
Couples get real about what could come next
Though they've still got another week in the Villa, the end of Love Island USA is coming into view (simply devastating for Islanders and fans alike). Couples Serena and Kordell and Kaylor and Aaron both decided that they wanted to stay together after the show. But while Serena and Kordell both live in Houston, Kaylor and Aaron live an ocean apart. Despite the distance, Aaron asked Kaylor to be his girlfriend officially, which she tearfully accepted.
Meanwhile, though Serena said she’s excited about a future with Kordell back home, she explained that she didn’t want to make things official on camera so that the moment would be more special in private.
But while those couples strengthened, one fell apart. After Rob shared that he thought that his feelings for Daniella weren’t as strong as hers, he pulled her for a chat and ended the relationship, leaving them both single.
The Heart Rate challenge (and a Bombshell) gets the Islanders’ blood pumping
In this season’s edition of the Love Island staple, the Islanders, dancing and flirting in sexy costumes, tried to get each other's heart rates as high as possible, which were measured by a heart rate monitor of course. Love Island USA is nothing if not scientific.
But if sexy dancing wasn’t enough to raise the Islanders’ heart rates, the surprise of meeting a new Bombshell definitely was. Right before the challenge Love Island: Aftersun host Maura Higgins introduced Kassy, who, like Harrison and Rob, was a contestant on Love Island USA Season 5.
Though the results were close, the boys won the challenge after getting the girls pulsing racing just a bit more.
It’s twist after twist in a shocking elimination
After the dust settled from a high-energy challenge, the Islanders were no doubt looking forward to a relaxing night in the Villa. But Maura had other plans. She lets the Islanders know that America has been voting for their favorite couples, and the three couples who received the fewest votes would be vulnerable.
The vulnerable couples were:
Kaylor and Aaron
Rob and Daniella
Harrison and Sierra
The rest of the Islanders were then able to save one couple who they agreed had the strongest connection, and they chose to save Kaylor and Aaron. But just when the other vulnerable couples were resigned to leaving, Maura threw in one last twist.
Kassy, the Bombshell who just entered the Villa, could couple up with Rob or Harrison — both of whom she had met last season. Wanting to explore if they could have a connection, Kassy opted to couple up with Rob.
That left:
Daniella
Sierra, and
Harrison
...dumped from the Villa.
Mr. and Mrs. brings hits and misses
Ariana and her high pony lead the Islanders in a game of Mr. & Mrs., a take on a classic game show that challenged the couples to come up with matching answers to questions. While some questions were sweet, like dream vacation destinations and favorite animals (Kaylor’s is a mermaid), others were shadier, like asking the couples about their partners’ red flags, and which Islander was here for the wrong reasons.
At the end of the challenge, Kaylor and Aaron came out victorious. The prize? Live video calls with both of their parents. Leave it to Ariana to give the winners an incredibly nerve-wracking prize. But for the newly minted boyfriend and girlfriend, this could take their relationship to the next level.
