A Guide to Frankenstein Movies You Can Stream Right Now
It's aliiiive! Make a date with "the Modern Prometheus."
For as long as there have been movies, there have been Frankenstein movies. And while not the first (Mary Shelley’s novel was adapted to film as early as 1910), the Universal Studios-produced Frankenstein in 1931 gave us the iconic Monster we still think of today.
From the Universal Classic Monsters to the Hammer film series to a modern version from Candyman director Bernard Rose, here’s a guide to all the Frankenstein movies streaming on Peacock.
1. Frankenstein (1931)
“It’s alive!” Not only does James Whale’s seminal film give us the legendary Boris Karloff as the terrifying, staggering, bolt-necked Monster that would inspire all versions who follow, but it also paves the way for much of the horror film genre at large.

2. Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
Considered one of the greatest franchise sequels of all time, Bride introduced comedy to the horror genre, along with the first female Frankenstein creation on-screen, played by Elsa Lanchester. Her character (and her character’s hairstyle) remain iconic to this day, despite limited screen time.

3. Son of Frankenstein (1939)
That’s the thing about this creature – he can always be revived in the hands of the right scientist. This time, it’s Dr. Frankenstein’s son Wolf (Basil Rathbone) whose lab work resurrects the Monster. Son also features a familiar face as Igor: Dracula’s own Bela Lugosi!

4. Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)
A monster… mash-up? In the first of many successful Universal crossovers, this film brings two iconic creatures together, with Lon Cheney Jr. reprising his role as Larry Talbot aka the Wolf Man. It’s also where we got the idea of a full moon turning a man into a werewolf. A-wooooooo!

5. The Evil of Frankenstein (1964)
“He’ll understand you, alright. He just won’t obey you.” In the third installment of the Hammer Frankenstein series starring Peter Cushing — a stylistic and continuity anomaly in the franchise — you can see what happens when the Monster drinks too much of the Baron’s booze.

6. Frankenhooker (1990)
Okay, so this is loosely, loosely based on Mary Shelley’s masterpiece, but when a young man brings his dead fiancée back to life with body parts harvested from a dead sex worker, it spawns a movie that the Los Angeles Times described as a “totally outrageous grin-and-gore comedy.”

7. Frankenstein (2015)
In this updated take on "The Modern Prometheus," a scientist couple create and abandon a creature with the body of a man and the mind of a baby. Naturally, the Monster goes on to terrorize Los Angeles — only to reveal that modern-day society is the real horror.
