How to Watch Michael Myers Halloween Movies on Peacock
It wouldn’t be Halloween without Michael Myers. Find out how to watch key movies in the iconic horror franchise on Peacock.
It’s Halloween, and there’s no better horror series to celebrate with than, well, Halloween. It was originally conceived as an anthology series, with all new characters and stories each movie, but the mysterious slasher known as Michael Myers so captivated audiences that he became the face of the franchise. The first movie intentionally keeps things vague. We didn’t know much about Michael other than that he killed his older sister when he was six years old. When he returns 15 years later, he is almost supernatural: hulking, strong, and silent. He can appear from anywhere and kill instantly. That we don’t know where he is at any given moment, or who he’ll target next, is part of what makes the movie so scary.
When it was time to make the sequel, the filmmakers decided to continue the story of Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode and bring back Michael Myers. Now they needed to answer the question of why he was hunting her down specifically.
Halloween II (1981)
Picking up immediately after the events of the first movie, Halloween II follows Laurie Strode as she is taken to the hospital. When the local news reports that Laurie survived, Michael (who survived being shot at the end of the first movie) goes after her once more. This is a pivotal movie in the franchise as it reveals that Laurie was adopted as a baby and is actually the younger sister of Michael Myers. Though not present in the first movie, this added twist forms the basis for all Halloween movies that came after this one up until 2018’s Halloween. Even when Laurie isn’t featured in subsequent movies, Michael’s familial connection keeps him coming back.

Halloween (2007)
Five years after 2002’s Halloween Resurrection ended Laurie Strode’s story, it was time for a full reboot. Director Rob Zombie remade John Carpenter’s 1978 original with his own twist. This movie is part remake and part Michael Myers origin story. It shows Michael murdering his older sister and her boyfriend, escaping the sanitarium years later, and terrorizing Laurie Strode on Halloween night, just like the original. It also shows more of Michaels childhood murders and goes into the origins of his iconic mask. Like in 1981’s Halloween II, Laurie is Michaels younger sister. While this movie doesn’t linger on that fact too much, it weaves the relationship into the story from the beginning so it can go even farther in the sequel.

Halloween II (2009)
After the success of his 2007 remake of Halloween, Rob Zombie was free to take the series in a completely new direction. This isn’t a remake of the 1981 movie that shares its name. Instead, it explores the connection between Michael and Laurie, suggesting that she shares some of his murderous tendencies. As Michael tries to reunite with his younger sister, she starts having visions of herself committing Michael’s murders. Zombie amped up the violence for this sequel, making it feel more realistic than in the first one. If you like horror movies that make you genuinely uncomfortable, this one is a must-watch.

Halloween (2018)
40 years after the original movie introduced us all to Michael Myers, director David Gordon Green brought the franchise back. Green worked with Carpenter to make this incarnation of Michael the scariest yet. To that end, they brought back the mystery from the original movie, completely ignoring everything between 1978 and 2018. Gone was the brother-sister relationship. Instead, Laurie Strode has spent the last 40 years not knowing why Michael came after her and her friends and living in constant fear of his return. That paranoia has put a strain on her relationship with her daughter and granddaughter, who see her many precautions as over the top. When Michael escapes a prison transfer bus and returns to Haddonfield, it may be too late for Laurie to protect her family.

Halloween Kills
The 2018 film became the highest-grossing slasher film ever made. It was only natural that a sequel or two would follow. Halloween Kills begins similarly to 1981’s Halloween II, picking up directly following the events of the previous film, and with Laurie being rushed to the hospital. That’s where the similarities end. This movie puts the focus on the survivors of Michael’s other murders. There are a whole lot of people in Haddonfield who remember the events of 1978 and have been carrying that anger with them ever since. Michael isn’t the only monster of this movie. As paranoia grips the town’s residents, they devolve into an uncontrollable, violent mob. The Strode family must put an end to the chaos while Michael stokes the fires with yet another killing spree. This movie is the second part of a trilogy that would be concluded in 2022 with Halloween Ends.
