Time to put on your hockey mask, Peacock’s Friday the 13th expanded prequel drama series, Crystal Lake, has found its star. Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me, No Good Deed) has been cast as Pam Voorhees, the mother to Friday the 13th’s machete-wielding slasher icon Jason Voorhees, in the upcoming Peacock Original series in partnership with A24 (The Brutalist, Babygirl).

Not much is known about when Crystal Lake will take place or what it will be about, though you can start putting together your best theories. With Cardellini’s casting, we’re brimming with excitement about the possibilities of who else will be joining her.

For those unfamiliar, the character of Pam played a vital role in the original Friday the 13th franchise, serving as the main antagonist in the first movie, which was released in 1980, before she was ultimately decapitated. She continued to be a major presence in the sequels, often appearing in Jason’s hallucinations or nightmares.

Crystal Lake was first announced back in 2022(!), so the Peacock Original has been in the works for a very long time.

Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry, Tokyo Vice) will serve as showrunner, creator, writer, and executive producer. Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Rob Barsamian and Stuart Manashil will also executive produce.
