Wicked Will Defy Gravity on Peacock
March just got a whole lot more wicked.
Rejoicify Ozians, there's thrillifying news you're going to like: Wicked is officially coming to Peacock — and much sooner than you think. Universal Pictures’ hit Oscar®-nominated musical blockbuster, starring Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, streams exclusively on Peacock starting March 21.
Not only is Wicked headed to your living room, but a whole slew of extra content is also coming to keep the excitement going. Get ready to dust off those singing pipes because the sing-along version of Wicked will also stream exclusively on Peacock beginning next month as part of the “Defying Gravity” Collection.
Deleted and extended scenes from the worldwide phenomenon, a making-of documentary, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and in-depth interviews with director Jon M. Chu and director of photography Alice Brooks ASC are just the tip of the iceberg with the supplemental content that will make every Wizomaniac’s day.
Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked follows Elphaba (Erivo), a misunderstood young woman who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda (Grande), a popular young woman who has yet to discover her true heart. The two meet at Shiz University and forge an unlikely friendship – before their lives take different paths following an encounter with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Their extraordinary adventures will ultimately see them fulfill their destinies as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.
The cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Ethan Slater, Bowen Yang, Peter Dinklage, with Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum.
Wicked is nominated for 10 Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actress, and won the Golden Globe® for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.
