According to Peacock, viewership of The Day of the Jackal in its first 75 days has surpassed any other Original drama series within the same timeframe.
The series, returning for a second season, ranked as a Top 10 streaming Original drama during premiere week in the US, and returned to the Top 10 for the Season 1 finale. It was also the biggest new series launch ever on Sky in the UK.
Certified Fresh, The Day of the Jackal has received several awards nominations by the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Both the series and Redmayne were recognized with nominations at all three awards shows.
Redmayne, who serves as an executive producer, stars as the unrivaled and highly elusive lone assassin, the Jackal, who makes his living carrying out hits for the highest fee. But following his latest kill, he meets his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer (Lashana Lynch) who starts to track down the Jackal in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe, leaving destruction in its wake.
The supporting cast includes Charles Dance, Richard Dormer, Chukwudi Iwuji, Lia Williams, Khalid Abdalla, Eleanor Matsuura, Jon O'Neill, Nick Blood, Sule Rimi, Úrsula Corberó, and Florisa Kamara.
