The Traitors Season 3 Finale Recap

Cheers to the end of another epic season.

The Traitors Season 3 Episode 11

The time has come: Who was crowned the winner of The Traitors Season 3?

After weeks of murders, banishments, blindsides, and dramatic exits, another entertaining season of Peacock’s Emmy®-winning competition series is officially in the books. Six players remain in the game – Danielle Reyes, Britney Haynes, Dylan Efron, Gabby Windey, Dolores Catania, and Lord Ivar Mountbatten. Did the Faithful prevail to win the $204,300 grand prize, or did the Traitors steal their thunder? There’s only one way to find out...

Here’s what happened on the Season 3 finale of The Traitors, “The Day of the Reckoning Is Upon Us.”

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

A Shocking Banishment

Last week’s cliffhanger hinged on Britney’s vote: Does she betray her BFF Danielle? Or, does she go the safe route with Ivar? We get our answer very quickly when we’re dropped back into the tense roundtable. When it’s time for her vote to be revealed, Britney is about ready to cry. “Dani, I thought my vote wouldn’t save you,” she says, turning around the board showing Danielle’s name scrawled on it.

The betrayal hits deep with Danielle, who makes a dig at Britney previously sabotaging her on Big Brother. The others are equally stunned. As Britney says later, the growing suspicions about Danielle were not going away, and she had no choice but to cut her friend loose. Danielle has regrets about bringing Britney in, admitting she “didn’t think Britney would be the nail in my coffin.” In the Circle of Truth, Danielle discloses her identity: “I said I was going to come in this game and play for my family by any means necessary. And of course, I’m definitely a Traitor.”

The Seer Is Revealed

Alan uncloaks the identity of the Seer, who can secretly learn if another player is a Faithful or a Traitor, is none other than Britney. It’s bad timing for her since she just banished her bestie from the castle, and she made “way too big of a big show” of it. And since Britney already knows everyone else’s identities, being a Traitor and all, she has to keep up the ruse.

Britney chooses to expose Gabby, inviting her to an intimate date over wine. When she opens the envelope, Gabby is confirmed to be a Faithful – but Britney (and all of us) already knew that. It’s now a matter of how Britney chooses to spin the information. The next morning, Britney discloses to the rest of the castle that Gabby is indeed a Faithful. This complicates things. If Britney had chosen to frame Gabby and says she’s a Traitor, it would give the others permission to banish Britney – and by extension, Gabby – for being suspicious. But because Britney didn’t go that route, confusion is all the players are left with.

The Final Mission

The last challenge is all about teamwork and adding money to the final prize pot. They all channel their inner James Bond and successfully solve a few riddles to collect the last $25,000 gold sacks.

As expected, there’s an added twist to double the money. The players can double the value of their gold sacks – each valued at $2,500 – if they can drop them inside the ring of fire... while dangling below a helicopter. They’re able to add $37,500 after this added challenge, bringing the grand total to $204,300.

Sowing Seeds of Doubt

Before the mission, Dylan focuses on the fact that Danielle didn’t say one nice word to Britney as she left the castle but had kind parting words for everyone else. When he asks Britney about it, it’s obvious his gut instinct is telling him that something’s not right. Britney catches onto Dylan’s skepticism, and she starts planting seeds against him with the remaining players. Dylan’s plan is to banish Britney first, while Britney’s plan is to banish Dylan.

In the aftermath of the mission, Dylan states he’s 100% voting out Britney. And Britney campaigns hard to have the others see that banishing Dylan would be in their best interest, too.  Making things more difficult than usual is the mere fact that they won’t know if the banished players are Traitors or Faithfuls. Their gut feeling is all they can ride on.

The Final Roundtable

If anyone forgot for even a second that Gabby is a Faithful, Britney reminds everyone that she is. Gabby thanks her for telling the truth about her affiliation, noting that if it was Danielle, the storyline would have played out very differently – likely leading to her banishment.

Next, Ivar and Dolores go at it at the roundtable, explaining why they don’t trust each other. The two have never been close, and because there’s usually a lack of evidence to go off, their mutual distrust is at least consistent, though it’s kind of a waste. Dolores says she can’t lie in general, and Ivar says the same, ending in a stalemate.

Then, the roundtable gets juicy. Dylan openly tells Britney he’s writing her name down, and he has the receipts backing up why. He runs down a list of past players who had been openly questioning or saying eyebrow-raising things to Britney, from Derrick Levasseur, Boston Rob, and Danielle. Ironically enough, Britney’s face-offs with Derrick and Boston Rob were when she was actually a Faithful. Unfortunate timing for her Britiney. When he brings up Danielle’s personal attack on Britney after she was banished the night before, saying “You did it again to me,” it’s too much of a red flag for him to ignore.

“There’s something more there,” Dylan says. “There's a chance that you guys were in the turret together planning to win this together and kind of have a storybook ending.” Britney agrees that Danielle’s comment to her isn’t a good look, but she throws it back at Dylan, saying that what Danielle said to him doesn’t exactly paint him out to be a saint. Her argument is that Danielle saying “unbelievable” after Dylan revealed his vote against her, and that he fought hard to win the Seer power, are notches against him. Dylan observes that Britney getting fired up is exactly what happened with Danielle.

Dylan believes that Britney could have been recruited. She’d be the perfect person to bring into the turret because she had shown signs of being meek, meaning she would more likely go along with the stronger personalities’ decisions and opinions in the turret. Britney is offended by the allegation that she is meek, but Dylan reminds everyone that she was very quiet in the beginning. Things get testy between Britney and Dylan at the roundtable, framing Dylan enough that the others start doubting him. It gets so bad that Dylan gives up trying to defend himself as a Faithful because of the contentious atmosphere.

The Votes

The votes come down for Britney and Dylan, and her confidence that she would be able to get Dylan out is unsubstantiated.

  • Dylan – Britney
  • Britney – Dylan, Ivar, Dolores, Gabby

Britney, the last remaining Traitor, is banished. “Dylan is too smart,” Britney says, acknowledging that Danielle kept him too long in the game.

The Fire of Truth

Dylan, Gabby, Dolores, and Ivar – all Faithfuls – enter the Fire of Truth, where they choose either to end the game if they believe they’re among Faithfuls or to banish another player if they believe one of them is a Traitor. Dylan is understandably concerned that he’ll be banished after the roundtable.

Dylan chooses to the end the game because he wants “to win with people I trust.” Ivar also chooses to end the game because he “believes there are no Traitors in our midst.” Gabby decides to end the game as well because banishing people now is purely for selfish reasons “to get more money.” Lastly, Dolores decides to end the game. Her reason? “Because I’m a Faithful and that’s the way I want to be.”

Ivar, Dolores, and Gabby reveal that they’re Faithfuls, and in dramatic fashion, they tease out Dylan’s reveal that he’s a Faithful. It’s the greatest number of Faithfuls to have won The Traitors. The Faithfuls have won Season 3!
