We're in the homestretch as we approach the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Track and Field, also known as Athletics, is one of the oldest Olympic sports and one of the most watched every summer. With events being determined by the tiniest distance or the shortest second, Team USA fans should be ready for any moment to be the moment.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the U.S. Track and Field team came out on top in every category, bringing in seven gold, 12 silver, and seven bronze medals. The U.S., historically, has been a powerhouse at Track and Field, and the athletes are hoping to continue their success at the world stage in Paris.

Make sure to catch every medal, every moment streaming live on Peacock.

When are the 2024 Paris Olympics Track and Field events?

Track and Field at the 2024 Paris Olympics will take place August 1–11 at various venues throughout Paris.

What venues will host Track and Field events?

Athletics events will be held at the Hôtel de Ville, Esplanade des Invalides, Stade de France, and Trocadéro. These famous historical landmarks will be transformed for the Olympics. The Hôtel de Ville, Paris’s city hall, will host the start of the marathon and the race will conclude at Esplanade des Invalides. Trocadéro — which faces the Eiffel Tower across the Seine — will host the race walks. The Stade de France, a multi-purpose stadium originally built for the 1998 Football World Cup, will hold the majority of Track and Field events.

What’s new for Track and Field at the 2024 Paris Olympics?

Track and Field has a few changes being implemented at the Paris games. For the first time, there will be the same number of gold medals for both Men’s and Women’s events. The marathon race walk mixed relay is replacing the Men’s 50km race walk event, providing the opportunity for equal medals. Also, the World Athletics Council introduced a repechage round for all individualized track events from 200m to 1500m. Instead of having one shot to make it to the semifinals, athletes who do not originally qualify can race a second time. All track athletes will race two races with the best times progressing to the semifinals.

Who will be competing for Team USA?

In just a few days, we’ll have our answer. The U.S. Men’s and Women’s Track and Field athletes will be competing at the U.S. Olympic Trials from June 21–30. In most cases, the top three qualifiers will punch a ticket to Paris, but results vary by event.

When are the U.S. Olympic Trials for Track and Field?

The U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials begin this Friday, June 21, in Eugene, Oregon. Held at Hayward Field, home of the Oregon Ducks Football team, this will be the fifth straight Summer Olympics Track and Field Trials at this venue. Athletes from across the country will compete to return as a veteran or make their first U.S. Olympic team. See below the full schedule of events and make sure to watch live on Peacock.
