Peacock Scores First Golden Globe Nomination For Poker Face
And we have Charlie Cale to thank... again.
Accolades seem to follow Poker Face wherever it goes — like Cliff LeGrand (Benjamin Bratt) trailing Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) cross-country, but less sinister.
The Golden Globes announced their nominees for the 81st annual ceremony Monday, Dec 12, and among the list was Poker Face’s Natasha Lyonne for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy.
This marks Peacock’s first-ever Golden Globe Award nomination.
Meanwhile, the Poker Face team can add one more enviable laurel to its rapidly growing list. The mystery-of-the-week series is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with 98%, and was previously nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards (including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), four Television Critics Association Awards, two Critics Choice Awards (including Best Comedy Series), seven Hollywood Critics Association Television Awards, and won TV Program of the Year at the AFI Awards.
It doesn’t take a uniquely skilled detective to figure out why viewers, critics, and awards bodies alike are eating this show up like it’s Texas BBQ.
But you should still stream all 10 episodes of Poker Face on Peacock to crack the case for yourself — preferably before the 81st Golden Globes telecast airs Jan 7, and certainly before it returns for a Season 2.
