SNL Thanksgiving Sketches to Stream on Peacock
Add some laughter to the holiday with these SNL Thanksgiving-themed sketches!
From an all-too-relatable awards show honoring family members who make Thanksgiving memorable to a turkey shocked to learn what really goes down at dinner, check out this list of some of our favorite Thanksgiving-themed sketches on Saturday Night Live.
Back Home Ballers
Do you ever feel more like a celebrity than when you head home for the holidays? In this music video, the ultimate SNL girl group — including Kate McKinnon, Cameron Diaz, Leslie Jones, and Aidy Bryant (as Lil’ Baby Aidy) — sings and raps about getting free laundry, WiFi, and food. Even their neighbors swarm them like paparazzi.
Stream “Back Home Ballers” in Season 40 Episode 7.
Surprise Lady: Thanksgiving
When Kristen Wiig returned to host SNL’s Thanksgiving episode in 2016, we were all thankful that she brought back Suprise Sue, the iconic character in a patchwork sweater who just can’t keep her cool about an upcoming surprise. In this sketch, she learns that Paul (Pete Davidson) will be surprising his mom by returning from the military for Thanksgiving. The cast seems thankful too, as they struggle to hold back their laughter.
Stream “Suprise Lady: Thanksgiving” in Season 42 Episode 7.
Kissing Family: Thanksgiving
When Jacob (Jason Segel) brings his new girlfriend (Vanessa Bayer) home for the holidays, his family’s level of affection is a bit shocking. The Vogelchecks are a long-running SNL favorite, but this iteration goes to hilariously extreme lengths to make Bayer’s character deeply uncomfortable.
Stream “Kissing Family: Thanksgiving” in Season 37 Episode 7.
Paul Simon’s Monologue Worries
In this true classic from 1976, host Paul Simon steps on stage to perform “Still Crazy After All These Years” in a turkey costume, but he stops when he suddenly realizes how ridiculous he looks. Then he goes backstage to complain to a young Lorne Michaels himself.
Stream “Paul Simon’s Monologue Worries” in Season 2 Episode 8.
Thanksgivies
The Thanksgivies are an awards show that honors those who go above and beyond in making the holiday unforgettable, though not necessarily in a good way. Categories for the prestigious award include “biggest guilt trip,” “most uncomfortable grace,” and “biggest drunken revelation.”
Though the sketch was cut for time, you can still stream Anne Hathaway’s full Thanksgiving SNL episode, Season 36 Episode 7.
Thanksgiving Week Airport Parade
In SNL’s most recent Thanksgiving episode, hosted by Jason Momoa, Bowen Yang and Ego Nwodim play two TSA agents introducing travelers walking by at the Thanksgiving Week Airport Parade — live from gate 78 in terminal C at Newark! Parade highlights include “gentle parenting father and his out-of-control, evil child,” “woman who refuses to check a bag,” and Momoa as “Captain Gary,” who you might not want to be the one in the pilot's seat.
Stream “Thanksgiving Week Airport Parade” in Season 49 Episode 5.
Thanksgiving Guest
Much like in “Kissing Family,” Vanessa Bayer plays a new girlfriend shocked by her boyfriend’s family's crazy tradition. What makes Trey’s (Josh Hutcherson) family so strange? They eat turkey for Thanksgiving. That might sound normal to you, but it certainly comes as a shock for Elise, who’s a turkey herself.
Stream “Thanksgiving Guest” in Season 39 Episode 7.
A Thanksgiving Miracle
In this viral sketch, there’s only one thing that can save Thanksgiving dinner from a big family fight over politics: Adele’s “Hello.” Though it's been 8 years since the song came out, we still think Adele is something we can all agree on.
Stream “A Thanksgiving Miracle” in Season 41 Episode 6.
