Watch the Trailer for The Hungry Games: Alaska’s Big Bear Challenge

Things are about to get wild with the natural world’s first ever reality competition show.

By Henry Block

Which bear will win? Narrated by Rhys Darby (Our Flag Means Death, Trolls, Flight of the Conchords), The Hungry Games: Alaska’s Big Bear Challenge isn’t your typical nature documentary. As the bears of Alaska’s Katmai National Park bulk up for winter hibernation, they aren’t just documentary subjects but reality contestants too.

What is The Hungry Games about?

As these Alaskan bears gear up for winter hibernation, they must battle the elements and each other, using brains and brawn to consume three million calories and gain up to 200 pounds in 150 days. It’s nature’s real-life survival show, and The Hungry Games: Alaska’s Big Bear Challenge documents the incredible lives of these ferocious creatures with a playful competition spin.

Unbeknownst to the bears, their progress is being tracked and ranked for a television audience with narration that combines fascinating facts about bear behavior with clever color commentary.
