How to Watch Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time
The 2024 NFL regular season is in full swing, and that means more Sunday Night Football. Cap off the weekend with a massive matchup between the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans.
Week 2 of the NFL season brings us another thriller on Sunday Night Football. Cap off the weekend with one of the most anticipated QB battles of the 2024 season. Peacock and NBC head to Houston, TX, where the Chicago Bears take on the hometown Texans.
Chicago Bears vs. Houston Texans
The Bears (1–0) had possibly the best offseason of any team in 2024. With two first-round picks in the draft (including the first-overall pick from the Carolina Panthers), they drafted a new quarterback in Caleb Williams (USC) and a new wide receiver in Rome Odunze (Washington), adding to an already-strong WR room that included DJ Moore and Keenan Allen. They also signed running back D’Andre Swift, giving the 2024 Bears offense a whole new look. Whether it was Week 1 jitters or a new team that’s still getting to know each other, Week 1 didn’t deliver the offensive performance the Bears were hoping for. In his NFL debut, Williams threw for 93 yards and no touchdowns. But hey, no interceptions either. Plus, the Bears ended up winning that game thanks to two defensive touchdowns, one off a blocked punt and the other off an interception.
Williams remains focused on improving in Week 2, though he may be down two key weapons against the Texans. Odunze is day-to-day with a sprained MCL and while the Bears are keeping the possibility of starting him open, he may have to miss Sunday night’s game. Allen also rested this week with a heel injury, though head coach Matt Eberflus is confident he’ll improve enough to practice and ultimately play this week. If this Bears team can shake off the offensive struggles of last week and get in sync, and the defense continues to make plays, they could come away with a win on Sunday night.
The Texans (1–0) had an extraordinary 2023 season with rookie QB CJ Stroud taking them all the way to the divisional round of the playoffs. Stroud may not be a rookie anymore, but that’s about all that’s changed, if Week 1 is anything to go by. He still expertly commands the field, leading the Texans to a 29–27 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. He threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, both of which were caught by newly acquired wide receiver Stefon Diggs. Also new to the Texans offense is running back Joe Mixon, who racked up 159 yards and one touchdown in Indianapolis. With those weapons at their disposal, Houston will be a fearsome opponent for anyone who runs across them this season.
The Texans will be without cornerback Jeff Okudah, who was placed on Injured Reserve after sustaining a hip injury during last week’s game against the Colts. Without Okudah, this could be a tough game for Houston if the Bears manage to get their offense going. Houston’s defense allowed 212 passing yards and 104 rushing yards last week against the Colts. There’s serious room for improvement on that side of the ball, but that’s not an emergency when you have an offense that can run up the score the way Stroud and company can. Keep the offense hot, and the Texans will be 2–0 come Monday morning.
