How to Watch Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time
The 2024 NFL regular season is in full swing, and that means Sunday Night Football every week. Cap off the weekend with a massive matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers.
Week 8 of the NFL season brings us another thriller on Sunday Night Football. End the day with the biggest game of the week. Peacock and NBC head to Santa Clara, CA where the Dallas Cowboys take on the San Francisco 49ers.
Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers
The Cowboys (3–3, 3rd in NFC East) have been defined by ups and downs this season. Early expectations were high, with star quarterback-wide receiver duo Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb both scoring big contracts during the offseason. Two early losses to the Saints and Ravens brought on some doubts. The Boys looked good in back-to-back wins against the Giants and Steelers but couldn’t slow down the Lions the week after. The good news is the Cowboys are coming off a bye week. They will be rested, recovered, and prepared while their opponents’ bye isn’t until next week. That extra week will be a huge asset to the Cowboys as they face the 49ers on the road.
Injuries continue to set this team back, with star linebacker Micah Parsons still out with an ankle injury. Dallas will need to rely on their offense. That means getting Prescott and Lamb on the same page early while running backs Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott get the run game going eight weeks into the season. If those players can take full advantage of the extra rest they have on the 49ers, and Prescott’s true primetime form makes an appearance, the Cowboys could take their second Sunday Night Football win of the season.
The 49ers (3–4, 4th in NFC West) appeared to start the season strong with a win over the Jets. After back-to-back losses against the Vikings and Rams, there appeared to be some trouble in San Francisco. A win over the Seahawks boosted their spirits, but they were unable to hand the Chiefs their first defeat last week. The 49ers had a tough schedule to start the year, and while they get next week off, they have to get through the Cowboys first. Dallas has had some struggles of their own, but this is not an easy matchup, especially after eight straight weeks of football.
So far, this has been quarterback Brock Purdy’s toughest season yet since he took over the starting job in 2022. Star running back Christian McCaffrey remains on injured reserve, though the team is hopeful he could return after the Week 9 bye. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is out for the season after tearing an ACL. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle were both limited in practice this week, but still could play Sunday night. If they are healthy enough by then, that would give the 49ers a needed confidence boost as the Cowboys come to town. Purdy is still one of the most talented quarterbacks in the league, though. If his star receivers are still out, he can make plays to rookies like Ricky Pearsall. The 49ers defensive line also remains dangerous. They’ve been forcing fumbles and getting turnovers like crazy this season. If they can do that to Prescott, they could be going into the bye week with a big win.
