How to Watch Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time

The 2024 NFL regular season is in full swing, and that means more Sunday Night Football every week. Cap off the weekend with a massive matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

By Nick Mangione
Dak Prescott of the Cowboys and TJ Watt of the Steelers will face off on Sunday Night Football at 7p ET on Peacock and NBC.

Week 5 of the NFL season brings us another thriller on Sunday Night Football. End the day with the biggest game of the week. Peacock and NBC head to Pittsburgh, PA, where the Dallas Cowboys take on the hometown Steelers.

Dallas Cowboys vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Cowboys (2–2, 2nd in NFC East) headed into this season with Super Bowl expectations after signing massive deals with quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. The season started well enough with a 33–17 win over the Browns, but the Boys went on to lose two straight to the Saints and the Ravens. Still, their fortunes started to turn around last week when they beat the Giants 20–15 on Thursday. They have a tough slate of opponents ahead, so a win over the Steelers would give them some crucial momentum.

This might be the Cowboys’ week too. Prescott performs historically well in prime time. He’s won more than 70 percent of his games played at night. Maybe there’s something about the big stage of a national primetime game like Sunday Night Football that brings out the best in him. He also cooked against the Giants last week, completing 81.5 percent of his passes for two touchdowns with no interceptions. If he can have that kind of performance, and CD Lamb can build on his own stellar performance last week, the Cowboys could take this one. They will be down defensively with linebacker Micah Parsons out with an ankle injury. That will make this game a challenge, but if this offense clicks on Sunday Night, these Cowboys will be dangerous.

The Steelers (3–1, 1st in AFC North) started this season hot with three straight wins against the Falcons, Broncos, and Chargers. They only took their first loss last week against the Colts. The most surprising development of the season for the Steelers has been quarterback Justin Fields. They expected Russell Wilson to be the starting QB but an aggravated calf injury has kept him on the sideline all season so far. That has not slowed down the Men of Steel at all. Fields has greatly improved since his time in Chicago. Even in that loss to the Colts he threw for 312 yards, had one touchdown and zero interceptions. If it wasn’t for a late fumble, we might be talking about the 4–0 Steelers right now.

At this point, it’s still unclear when Wilson will return to full participation, and head coach Mike Tomlin isn’t making any plans just yet to replace Wilson with Fields on a permanent basis. No matter who the Steelers go with, they’re going to be competitive this season. Especially if they can get running back Najee Harris going. Injuries to the offensive line will make that a challenge this weekend, but the Cowboys have struggled defending the run. If Harris can take advantage of that, pull out a few big runs and open up passing lanes for Fields, the Steelers will still be on top of the AFC North on Monday.

Cowboys vs. Steelers History

This is one of the biggest non-conference rivalries in the NFL with these teams having met in the Super Bowl three times. The last of those was back in 1995 when the Cowboys won 27–17. These teams have played a total of 33 times with Dallas taking 17 of those wins, though the last time they faced each other, the Steelers came away with the victory.
