How to Watch New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time
The 2024 NFL regular season is in full swing, and that means Sunday Night Football every week. Cap off the weekend with a massive matchup between the New York Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Week 7 of the NFL season brings us another thriller on Sunday Night Football. End the day with the biggest game of the week. Peacock and NBC head to Pittsburgh, PA where the New York Jets take on the hometown Steelers.
New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Jets (2–4, 3rd in AFC East) are hoping the pieces are finally in place to start a comeback and make a deep playoff run. After a disappointing 2–3 start to the season, head coach Robert Saleh was let go and interim coach Jeff Ulbrich took over. Their first game after that change didn’t go their way, but the offense certainly looked hot in that 23–20 loss to the Bills. Particularly that Hail Mary touchdown pass quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw at the end of the first half.
Now, Rodgers has yet another elite wide receiver to throw to after the Jets traded for Davante Adams. Rodgers and Adams famously played together on the Green Bay Packers, so their existing rapport will be a huge asset for the Jets. This offense is ready to cook, which is good news considering they’ll be up against one of the best defenses in the league. If the offensive line can give Rodgers time to find his stellar receiving corps, and if the defense keeps up the good work they’ve been doing all season, the Jets comeback could start right here on Sunday Night Football.
The Steelers (4–2, 2nd in AFC North) had a fantastic start to the season with wins against the Falcons, Broncos, Chargers, and Raiders. They’ve done all that with backup quarterback Justin Fields. The offense may have a new look this Sunday with Russell Wilson healthy and expected to start at quarterback. Even at time of writing though, head coach Mike Tomlin has yet to name a starter. That uncertainty may end up giving the Jets less time to prepare for the kind of offense they’ll face. Both quarterbacks are certainly dangerous on the run, but Fields is much harder to bring down once he’s out of the pocket. On the other hand, Wilson’s ability to fire the ball downfield for huge gains means you can’t leave anyone open. Above all else, Tomlin is a master strategist and will do everything he can to confound the Jets defense.
On the other side of the ball, the Steelers defense will be ready for whatever Aaron Rodgers throws at them. Linebacker TJ Watt has had four and a half sacks and three forced fumbles this season. Blocking him is often a two-man job, giving the defense even more of an advantage. If the Steelers defense can get to Rodgers fast, Pittsburgh could take this one no matter who is at QB.
