The Ohio State Buckeyes (7-0, 1st in Big 10) travel to Madison to take on their Big Ten rival, the Wisconsin Badgers. Last weekend, the Buckeyes had arguably their biggest win of the season, defeating No.7 Penn State 20-12 in a battle of two undefeated Big 10 teams. In that game, Kyle McCord threw for 286 passing yards and a touchdown, helping lead the Buckeyes to victory. Ohio State finished with 367 total yards, a season-high against Penn State, the top-ranked total defense in the country (allowing just 193.3 yards per game coming in). Buckeyes’ star wideout Marvin Harrison Jr had 11 catches for 162 yards and a late touchdown in the victory. Harrison is the first Ohio State receiver to have five career games with at least 160 receiving yards. David Boston (1996-98) had four. It’s been a special season for Harrison Jr., the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and Super Bowl XLI champion Marvin Harrison. He leads the Big Ten conference in receiving yards (766) and ranks second in receptions (42) and touchdown catches (six). His 423 receiving yards over the last three weeks leads all the FBS. Their defense has also been a force to be reckoned with, ranking third in the nation in scoring defense, allowing opposing offenses to score just 10 points per game.
Wisconsin quarterback Braedyn Locke threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to offensive lineman Nolan Rucci with 27 seconds left last Saturday, completing an 18-point fourth-quarter comeback that gave the Badgers a thrilling 25-21 Big Ten win over Illinois. Locke was 21-of-41 passing for 240 yards and two touchdowns in his first start since taking over for the injured Tanner Mordecai. Braelon Allen, who is second in the Big Ten in rushing (704 yards), ran for 145 yards in the victory. Saturday marked the first time since 2018 vs. Purdue where Wisconsin won a Big Ten conference game in which it trailed by at least two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Back on November 17, 2018, the Badgers defeated the Boilermakers 47-44 after trailing 27-13. It was a huge victory for Wisconsin, who moved into first place in the Big Ten West. Wisconsin (3-1) and Iowa (3-2) are the only Big Ten West teams with a winning conference record. This is the first time in eight years Ohio State has traveled to Madison to take on the Badgers.
Ohio State and Wisconsin have played 85 times since their first meeting in 1913.
