Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football
These teams have a lot to prove going into Week 3 of the NFL season. Both teams are 1–1 going into this game, each having seen one close win and one decisive loss. The Steelers started their season against the 49ers, losing 30–7. It’s hard to read too much into that result though, as there are sure to be plenty of teams that meet a similar fate against San Francisco this season. The Steelers quickly bounced back, stunning the Browns 26–22 last weekend with two touchdowns by a phenomenal-looking defense. They’ll be hungry to keep the momentum going on Sunday night.
For their part, the Raiders started the season with a narrow 17–16 victory over the Broncos. This game went down to the wire, with Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo throwing two touchdown passes to Jakobi Meyers in both players’ first game for Las Vegas, and the Raiders’ defense kept Denver’s passing game contained. Week 2 didn’t go quite as well. The Raiders lost to the Bills 10–38. As with the Steelers–49ers game though, it’s hard to read too much into this loss. The Bills are a force to be reckoned with, and Vegas won’t be the last team to see that kind of score go against them. The Raiders will be looking to bounce back this week, and it will all come down to whether Garoppolo can get around that Pittsburgh defense.
