How to Watch Arsenal v. Manchester United: Stream on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time
The 2024/25 Premier League season has been a joy to watch so far. The excitement continues in Matchweek 14 when Manchester United take on Arsenal.
In a fixture that is notorious for its drama, Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates in the latest installment of their Premier League rivalry.
Arsenal v. Man United
After a difficult run of form that included losses to Bournemouth and Newcastle, Arsenal look like they’re back to their best with three wins in their last three games in all competitions. With Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard back to full fitness, Arsenal’s proficiency in front of goal has blossomed as of late with 13 goals scored over their last three matches. The entire team looks more cohesive with a stellar 5-goal first half performance against West Ham last time out in the Premier League. Manchester United will prove to be a tougher test than the Hammers, but Arsenal will back themselves to get all three points in front of their home support at the Emirates. To do so, Arsenal will rely upon their dynamic duo, Saka and Ødegaard, to spark their attack. With five goals and already 10 assists in 13 league games, Saka is an early candidate for player of the season. His deliveries from corners have become deadly and his ability to cut in on his left foot has been unmatched by any defender in the league. Saka’s link-up play with Ødegaard, who’s return has been vital to Arsenal’s recent success, is the main precursor to most goals the team scores. Ødegaard’s presence in the middle of the field and leadership as captain have helped him make the players around him even better.
Defensively, Arsenal’s back line will need to be stout to contend with United’s pace and quality on the break. Despite leading the entire league last year with 18 clean sheets, Arsenal’s defense has been inconsistent this season with only four clean sheets in 13 matches. Still, the center-back partnership of William Saliba and Gabriel is a force to be reckoned with. Arsenal will call on the two of them, along with David Raya, to hold United’s attack at bay.
Unbeaten in their last seven matches, Manchester United have much improved since Erik ten Hag’s sacking in late October. With two wins and a draw in his first three matches, Ruben Amorim has started his tenure at United well. His best moment so far came in the convincing 4-0 victory over Everton this past Sunday. Amorim will look to build more momentum in what would be an impressive win against 2nd-place Arsenal. The new United manager may still be figuring out his preferred starting 11, especially in the midfield and front line, but Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo have proven too valuable to sit on the bench. With three goals and five assists in all competitions this year, Diallo has been arguably United’s best player since ten Hag’s departure. His newfound position at right wing-back seems to be a perfect fit and his pace and dribbling ability will cause Arsenal problems. Fernandes has been the Red Devils’ talisman for the last couple years and it’s no secret that the entire team runs through him. United will rely on Fernandes’ creativity and passing ability to create chances. Who will start up front is a bigger question mark. Joshua Zirkzee, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, and Rasmus Højlund have all scored goals under Amorim’s management, so it will be intriguing to see who starts against a formidable Arsenal defense.
On the other side of the ball, Amorim has instilled a new defensive setup consisting of three center-backs with two wing-backs supporting either side. With Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw both healthy, it will be interesting to see if Amorim sticks with his preferred trio of Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, and Noussair Mazraoui. In what will be the most difficult test since Amorim’s arrival, United’s defense will need to be stout for the Red Devils to win this game.
