How to Watch Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs on Peacock LIVE, Schedule, Kickoff Time

The holiday season is approaching and that means we get even more days of football. Get the party started early this Saturday with a massive matchup between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs.

C.J. Stroud of the Houston Texans and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs will play in the NFL Holiday Special Saturday at 12p ET on Peacock and NBC

Week 16 of the NFL season brings us two NFL thrillers in two days. Kick off the weekend in Kansas City, where the Houston Texans will take on the hometown Chiefs.

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

The Texans (9–5, 1st in AFC South) have seen some struggles late in the season, but those haven’t stopped them from clinching a playoff berth. With the only winning record in the AFC South, they are guaranteed to be playing in the postseason. Don’t think that’s gonna slow them down on Saturday, though. A win against the Chiefs could help them get a top-three seed and make their postseason run just a little easier. Plus, the satisfaction of handing the Chiefs a second loss is something every team in the NFL will be chasing. For that to happen, the offense will need to be more consistent about putting points on the board. Quarterback C.J. Stroud had a tougher second year than expected, dropping to 232 passing yards per game this season. He's also thrown more interceptions with year with nine. That’s not all on him. He’s gone multiple weeks without his top wide receivers, including Stefon Diggs, who’s out for the season. The offensive line has also had more issues this year. Not only does that mean more pressure on Stroud, it means running backs Joe Mixon (who’s questionable for this weekend) and Dameon Pierce have more trouble breaking away for big gains.

For any other team, those issues might mean a lost season. That’s what’s fun about the Texans though. More often than not, they’ve found ways to win. Sure, they’ve taken losses against the Titans and Jets in recent weeks, but they’re on a two-game winning streak that includes a 20–12 beatdown on the Dolphins. This team just will not go down, making every game appointment football. A lot of that is on the defense. This is a fast, adaptive unit that can shut down the run just as well as covering a pass. If a QB decides to throw short, they can easily contain the damage. If a QB gets aggressive, this unit can make them pay. The Chiefs offense will be especially difficult to limit, but if this defense can play like they did against Miami, that might be all it takes to come away with a win.

The Chiefs (13–1, 1st in AFC West) remain the Chiefs. Some have argued that the quality of play has fallen this season. That quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been as prolific as past seasons. That tight end Travis Kelce has only caught two touchdowns all season. That the wins have been ugly, beating teams like Denver, Las Vegas, and Cincinnati by a touchdown or less. By the numbers that’s true, but you know what an ugly win is? A win. No matter who they’re playing, this Chiefs team has stayed in it until the end. Only the Bills and their monster offense have been able to bring this team down, and the Chiefs are still favored to take the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

The big question is whether Mahomes will play this weekend. After suffering a high ankle sprain last week, it’s unclear if he will be healthy enough by Saturday. Particularly since there’s such a short turnaround time between this game and the next. With a playoff spot clinched, no one would fault the Chiefs for resting their star QB this Saturday. Except maybe Mahomes himself. He wants to play. He was a full participant in practice this week and looks set to go out there against the Texans. He may get some help this weekend with the Chiefs planning to activate wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown from injured reserve for this game. With more offensive pieces in place, Kansas City could end Saturday with a more comfortable win than they’ve had all season.
